Focused and Driven . . . Jonathan is an active litigator and specializes in family law, criminal law, personal injury, land use and zoning disputes, immigration law, and estate planning. He firmly believes an effective law practice must focus on the virtue of genuinely listening to the needs of the client and the necessity of aggressive, strategic, and creative representation.
Involved . . . He is an active member of the Decatur community. He serves on the Board of Directors for Rebuilding Together, Morgan County, which assists our fellow citizens in desperate need of repairs to their homes. He is also a member of both the Morgan County Bar Association and the Morgan County Young Lawyers Association; each of these organizations, through various programs and events, serves the needs of the citizens of North Alabama. Finally, Jonathan spent three years as a teacher in the inner-city of Atlanta, Georgia through Teach for America.
Knowledgeable . . . Jonathan is a graduate, with honors, from the University of Alabama School of Law. While in law school, Jonathan served as a Senior Editor on the Law & Psychology Review and was a member of the Bench & Bar Legal Honor Society. For his public service and volunteer efforts during law school, he was awarded the Order of the Samaritan and the Dean’s Community Service Award. He received three best paper awards for excellence in law school course work. Jonathan also attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received a masters degree in Theological Studies, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he received bachelor of arts degrees in English and Philosophy and graduated with honors. Finally, Jonathan served three years with Teach for America during which he taught middle school students in inner-city Atlanta.
Why Decatur and North Alabama? . . . Even before attending law school in Tuscaloosa, Jonathan knew he wanted to return home to northern Alabama to provide a unique type of legal service to the hard-working people of this special region. The desire and the closeness of family led him to Decatur where he began his law practice in 2010.
Outside the Office . . . When not in the office, he can be found fishing with friends and family on the Tennessee River, hiking or camping in the Sypsey Wilderness Area and Bankhead National Forest, or watching his favorite college football team. He enjoys exercising, reading, any excuse to visit the beach, and cooking Southern cuisine.
